Microsoft Contributes Its Sonic Linux Networking Suite to Open Compute Project

The Windows maker has announced that it is giving away Sonic, its own designed software, to users for free. At the Open Compute Project US Summit, Microsoft announced that it is proposing to contribute Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (Sonic) to the project.

Google already worked with Facebook on a new data center project. Google, a company that knows a lot about data center hardware, has officially joined the Open Compute Project, a group formed by Facebook five years ago to build efficient “open source” data center hardware.
