Facebook comes to OSCON to promote open data center design

facebook_prineville_servers.JPGFacebook wants to share. When the social networking company opened its first data center last year in Prineville, it gave the tech press a tour and even let potential rivals inside. Facebook then launched the “Open Compute Project,” a collaborative initiative aimed at promoting open standards in data center design. The goal, the company explained, is to make data centers less expensive to build and more efficient to operate.
